Māris Gailis, entrepreneur:
I always squeeze the empty plastic bottles before putting them in garbage bin. I use cotton handkerchief instead of paper tissues. I clean up the area around Ķīpsala already 10th year in a row. And I am proud of my wife who goes by bike everywhere she needs to get.
Artis Nīmanis, designer:
In my family we use environmentally friendly cosmetics, for instance, tooth paste and shampoo. After using plastic bottles, we squeeze the air out of them before putting the in special garbage bins. And we do not litter – neither in forests nor in other places.
Šeila, fashion designer:
In my family, we use car only when it is really necessary, and that is not every day. We bike a lot. When doing our laundry, we don’t use washing powder concentrate more than it’s needed, and we put the lowest possible temperature of the washing machine. We try to avoid food that has been transported too far – from example, from China. And we try not to buy things that we can live without.
Valts Kleins, photographer:
My individual ecology begins with my attitude towards other people and myself. Not to hurt others, to love everyone... That’s where it begins, and that’s where it ends. A loving person is attentive, sensitive, understanding, and that kinds of person can adjust and meet his individual needs without becoming greedy and too consumptive.
