About HOMO ECOS:
homo ecos: is an environmental organisation that unites people in Latvia and abroad who care for balanced progress that suits both human beings and the planet we live on.
In the race for progress, Homo Sapiens have come to a point where their actions and technologies have irreversibly wasted the Earth’s natural resources. We are in the epicenter of global warming and at the foot of an ever-growing mountain of waste. In order to survive we have to grow into Homo Ecos, or Ecological Man. Homo Ecos is the future society, which does not lavish the Earth’s resources, but rather knows both how to use these resources mindfully and how to preserve them for next generations.
Our goal is to create a social movement of members who support green ideas and are open to improve their daily habits in order to lead an environmentally friendly lifestyle.
“homo ecos:” educates, involves, inspires and encourages those who care for the needs of future generations:
Education – we organize events in order to inform and educate society about current environmental topics. On our “Green Floor” we host seminars, discussions, movie nights and other educational events and offer resources such as books and movies. The organisation has a weekly radio broadcast or Radio Pieco about various environmental topics. In order to address a broader society, “homo ecos:” organizes yearly social campaigns.
Involvement – “homo ecos:” involves its target audience by informing them about possible solutions for environment-related issues through workshops and social events. We are helped by a growing number of volunteers and work together with other open-minded organisations, public bodies and companies.
Inspiration and encouragement – we create space and time to meet for those who are on their way to changing their daily habits. We give these people the opportunity to exchange ideas and experience, which helps them to realize their own environmentally friendly solutions and daily habits, and to make them available to each and everyone.
Together with “homo ecos:” you will find inspiration to act, as well as information on topics such as climate change, green lifestyle, green packaging, zero waste and sustainable event management.
